Wild Mint - large platter
Sold OutSaleThese stunning glass platters are handmade using recycled art glass.
Giving the discarded art glass new life, it is melted through a metal screen, allowing the colours to swirl together and form a slab of one of a kind patterned glass. These custom slabs are then cut with a wet saw and melted again to add texture (custom made texture molds made from the Albertan landscape made of stone, bark, grasses). The pieces are then cleaned and sandblasted to be melted one last time, just hot enough that the glass will start to bend and fall into the shape of the platter. The sandblasting before the final melt, leaves the glass with a matte silky finish that appears like stone.
These platters have a stone-like texture paired with the circular tiles made from tree bark. I can't explain how much I love the colour on these bowls, soft glowing mint greens. And this big one looks a bit like a fish...
