#309 - Multicoloured Aura Dichroic glass adjustable cocktail ring
These rings start as scrap dichroic glass pieces. I layer multiple pieces and fuse it into one large slab of glass. Then I cut it down into individual cabochons. Each one is beveled and fire polished then placed within a silver plated ring bezel. Each piece is one of a kind.
The rectangle of the ring measures just over one inch long and just under half an inch wide. The sturdy adjustable band is silver plated and measures 10mm wide.
Please note that pictures may have darker or lighter colours on different monitors and are usually darker than portrayed in these pictures. Colours are always more vibrant in person with Dichroic glass.
All of my glass art is created in my Calgary based studio. It is properly fused and annealed in an electric kiln to ensure longevity. Each piece is individually crafted, fused and shaped which often takes three fusing cycles (and several days) to complete.
What is Dichroic [dahy-kroh-ik] Glass? When you look at this glass, it appears to have more than one colour at the same time, especially when viewed at different angles. This reflective phenomenon is known as thin-film physics, which is also why you see swirling rainbow patterns in a soap bubble, floating colours from oil on water and the dramatic colours of dragonfly wings.
