M6 - Hard Love curious object
Sold OutIs it a paperweight, a trinket dish, a sculpture, an ashtray, a paperweight a hunk of the moon? It can be all those things (well not the moon - but it is made of glass!).
Putting all the glass 'rules' aside, I pushed myself to be raw with this release. I've been experimenting with powdered glass that looks like cement, so I worked toward an industrial feeling. The stone looking glass paired with a Valentine's theme = Hard love.
These curious objects are not only multifunctional but very tactile. Shiny and matte glass, but also rough edges (you can see where my wet saw has cut the glass), and popped bubbles (where my grinder took off the top layer of glass to reveal the moon texture below the surface).
They are wonderful just to hold and peer into the sides of the piece to see how the glass has flowed and mixed together - see the video in the gallery!
- 3.5 inches wide x 3.5 inches length x 1.25 inches depth
- 430 g weight (that's almost a pound of glass!)
- COE 96 glass, cast and annealed for strength
- Handmade in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Warning: There are sharp edges - these objects are not for children. Plus they are quite heavy!
