#401 - Large Nebula Fused Glass Pendant Electroformed Copper Necklace Modern Jewelry
I begin the process by layering multiple pieces of dichroic glass and melting it down into one large slab. I then cut the slab down into individual cabochons that I either melt further, cold-work or finish with the electroforming process.
The electroforming process can take anywhere from 12-48 hours, depending on the size and detail of the piece. Each piece is given a turquoise/brown patina, then carefully polished in certain areas to bring out the copper below. Finally each piece is sealed with renaissance wax or lacquer to preserve and protect the finish.
This electroformed glass necklace is suspended from a 30" inch copper plated chain finished with lobster clasp. The chain is chunky and allows the wearer to clasp anywhere along the chain making it completely adjustable. So you can wear it short with the excess chain laying down your back or wear it at the full 24” for a longer look.
