Art glass is formed into an organic shaped flat slab that is then melted overtop of custom texture molds made from the Albertan landscape (stone, bark, grasses). The pieces are then cleaned and sandblasted to be melted one last time, just hot enough that the glass will start to bend and fall into the shape of the bowl (tis one was melted over two bricks to give it a square base). The sandblasting before the final melt, leaves the glass with a matte silky finish that appears like stone.
This bowl has diamond-shaped tiles made from tree bark, wild grasses and fir tree needles. The stunning turquoise colour is similar to the glowing water you'll find in the Alberta mountains, most well known being Lake Louise.
